In 2009 a new special event debuted replacing the legendary Armageddon, this PPV was Tables, Ladders and Chairs (TLC). Since 2009 we have seen some classic matches and moments from this epic end of year event. With the latest one a few weeks away, we look back at the history of WWE Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.
2009
TLC 2009 was a very historic event. New champions were crowned and it was the debut of the TLC PPV.
The show featured a classic and yet very underrated ladder match for the ECW Championship between two of WWE's most underrated stars; Shelton Benjamin and Christian. It was a fantastic match full of great spots, including Benjamin crashing through a ladder! Also we saw DX beat Jerishow (Y2J & Big Show) in a TLC match and become the tag team Champs. A chairs match for the World Championship between Batista and The Undertaker took place. Quite a letdown to say the least, it could have been much better.
Also a great singles match between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton took place. But what everyone remembers from this event was the tables match between John Cena and Sheamus which saw the Celtic Warrior beat Cena in a shocking ending! No one expected it at the time and Sheamus became a main-event star and of course WWE Champion!
It gave us some great moments to start and should a brilliant PPV debut. Rating: 8/10
2010
TLC 2010 featured many matches involving a bit of TLC, some classic matches were brought to us on this event.
There was an epic fatal 4 way TLC match for the World Championship between Edge, Alberto Del Rio, Rey Mysterio and Kane. Everyone go involved really well in this match, Edge dived of a ladder onto Kane, sending him throguh a table! Also Del Rio went flying of a ladder crashing through a table (thanks to Mysterio).
However it would be the master of the ladder match, Edge who would go onto win this one. This match was actually Edge's last ever ladder match to. We also got a great ladder match between Sheamus and John Morrison. Morrison really shined in that contest. Also a tables match for the WWE Championship between The Miz and Randy Orton took place, Miz would win this one. And John Cena finished The Nexus of in a decent main-event chairs match with Wade Barrett.
TLC 2010 did have some great matches. However the main-event should have been swapped over with the TLC match. Rating: 8/10

2011
TLC 2011 was another historic event which featured some big title changes.
What I mainly remember from this event was after Big Show beat Mark Henry in an incredibly short chairs match for the World Championship. Henry would attack Big Show after the match, leading Daniel Bryan to cash in Money In The Bank and beat Big Show for the World Championship, a great moment. There was a tables match between Randy Orton and Wade Barrett which ended with an epic "RKO OUTTA NOWHERE!!!!!"
Also there was a ladder match between Triple H and Kevin Nash, which was to be won under pin or submission, however it was a ladder match due to sledgehammer being hung above the ring. The match was pretty decent. The main-event was a triple threat TLC match between Alberto Del Rio. The Miz and CM Punk for the WWE Championship. The match was great and we saw many great spots happen in that one. We saw CM Punk successfully defend the WWE Championship in that contest. We also saw Zack Ryder beat Dolph Ziggler for the U.S Championship and Cody Rhodes vs Booker T as well.
TLC 2011 was a solid event Rating: 7.75/10

2012
The 2012 version was ann incredible event which The Shield had their debut match at.
TLC 2012 featured the debut match of The Shield and boy did they make an impact here!
We saw Rhodes Scholars vs Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara in a tornado tables match. A good contest between the two teams here which saw Rhodes Scholars win. Also we saw a chairs match for the World Championship between Sheamus and the Big Show. Really good match between these two, Big Show used a giant chair to beat Sheamus.
The Shield took on Ryback and Team Hell No in the first ever TLC match to be won by pinfall or submission. All six guys looked great in this match. Every weapon was used well, great table spots and creativity with the weapons was displayed in this contest. The Shield won that battle.
The main-event saw Dolph Ziggler defending his Money In The Bank briefcase in a ladder match against John Cena. This match is incredibly underrated! Both guys put on a great match here, tables were used in this one as well. Ziggler would beat Cena in this one with a little bit of help from AJ Lee, but it was the fact that Ziggler beat Cena in the main-event of a PPV that we all remember.
TLC 2012 was a classic event which featured two of 2012's best matches Rating: 8.50/10

2013
TLC 2013 saw us crown the very first WWE World Heavyweight Champion!
We saw a fatal four way elimination tag team match for the tag team Championships between, the Rhodes Brothers, Big Show and Rey Mysterio, Rybaxel and the Real Americans. It was a great match in which we saw it come down to Rhodes Brother and Big Show and Mysterio. Rhodes Brothers went on to win this one.
Also we had two 3 on 1 handicap matches, one was Daniel Bryan vs The Wyatt Family, Good match here in which we saw The Wyatts beat Bryan. Also CM Punk took on The Shield and he went on to beat them! The match was also CM Punk's last ever PPV. win as well, before he left the company after the 2014 Royal Rumble.
The main-event was a TLC match to crown the first ever WWE World Champion. John Cena faced Randy Orton. These two put on one of they're best matches in their rivalry to date! Orton won this one and he became the first WWE World Champion.
TLC 2013 was a very historic event, but it needed more matches involving a bit of TLC than instead of one. Rating: 7.50/10

*******
What will 2014's TLC event be like? Will Bray Wyatt v Dean Ambrose in a TLC match out-perform The Sheild vs Ryback and Team Hell No's from 2012? We will have to wait and see. But by the looks of things, TLC will be another one not to miss on the WWE calendar.
