A Review Of The Season And FC Barcelona's Transfer Window: Success Or Fail?

The transfer window is a key role in any club success and this window FC Barcelona have been extremely busy due to the disappointing season which left fans disappointed at the club.

Barcelona had a truly horrific season compared to their joyous seasons. They had appointed a new manager Gerardo Martino who people weren't entirely confident in. When the season started many problems emerged and a key problem was the CB situation. Now Barcelona has lost one of its key CB's Carles Puyol who had struggled with injuries and age and wasn't exactly as great as he used to be so this caused problems. Furthermore he announced to retire at the end of the season which made this situation a little worse. Barcelona had to depend on Pique a CB who had run out of shape and just wasn't performing to a high standard to add another salt to the wound Barcelona had no option but to play Mascherano who plays as a CDM to accompany Pique.

Another key problem was the GK problem, Valdes suffered a extreme injury and so Barcelona had to play a season with out him. The alternative was Lord Pinto. Now believe this we had a nearly 40 year old who hardly ever plays playing a whole season with a not so excellent defence. I don't need to write anymore you understand the reason for the bad season.

We had also received a transfer ban but luckily was lifted just for this window and will most likely end in Jan 2016. This meant we had to go all in this window, We had to refurbish our defence keeper and a CM and a forward just so we were stronger. Now I'm not against our board but at times like this I expect good deals to go down like world class CB's being brought Hummels, Benatia etc, but I remember we have Zubizarreta so nothing goes to plan.

GK's brought this summer...
Ter Stegen: Stegen is a very young keeper and is already grabbing attention from the world. Exceptional for his age at Monchengladbach. He can grow to become a leader of men in the team and already has a aura of talent. And he has pretty smooth passing ill give him that. In my opinion a great buy and drastically improved our situation. The Fee? 12 Million Euros.

Claudio Bravo: Bravo is a amazing keeper and he proved it by displaying his skills in the world cup. People were simply amazed by him even though for Sociedad he was a top class keeper. He has displayed great goal keeping skills and will fit easily in Barcelona as he is experienced and has already adapted to La Liga and understands the league. The fee is a little off maybe €10m would've been fine but  €15m for a 31 year old seemed overpriced but still a great buy for Barcelona.

Now onto the key thing, defenders..
Jeremy Mathieu: Ahem this is long. Mathieu was being criticised by Cules by the board and was a BIT overpriced for a 30 year old smoker who isn't even world class. I mean  €20 mil for him?? BUT to be fair I was happy for Mathieu to come I mean he is what Barca lacked, He's VERY strong, Somehow fast, Tall to head out corners ( a problem last season). In my eyes a tad bit overpriced but exactly what we need and as a topping he's adapted to La Liga and understands how to play in La Liga.

Thomas Vermaelen: Now I've seen Vermaelen play in some games he is just a class above the opponent and then in some he's just not that standard. Thats a major problem his inconsistency and  to make things worse he is injury prone. The problem that started the CB dilemma was injuries. But if Vermaelen stays consistent and isn't injured he would be a AMAZING buy for €12 million. A LOT better than Mathieu if he gets his good form back.

Now a midfielder...
Ivan Rakitic: My FAVOURITE buy of the transfer window and in my opinion bargain of the summer. We needed a mid to replace Xavi as he is getting old and we needed a whole change in mid. Step in Rakitic, He was a MAJOR role in winning the Europa League with Sevilla last season and is one of the most underrated midfielders in the world. He has already perfectly fitted in to the team, he already has experience in La Liga and as seen in the Gamper friendly was absolutely stunning, I mean he was passing it around like he came out of La Masia and it didn't even look like we brought him.He linked up perfectly with everyone and even set up a goal with a beautiful long ball. Perfect mid, Perfect price of €20 mil.



Finally this is it the guy who took it all, our new forward...
Luis Suarez: Now I don't want to write much since I've killed this, you know who Suarez is right? Why ask who doesn't? Suarez is obviously one of the best currently and everyone knows there is a reason why even Madrid was after his signature. Scoring 31 goals in 33 matches and having a string of assists on the way Suarez is jut special and added to Messi the best in the world and Neymar currently getting better you are gonna have waves of goals and ripped goal nets. Sadly due to his 'Incident' his ban will not let him play and we have to wait for that. But one he understands Barca's way of playing and links up with everyone there will be serious damage to any team against them. Now's his price €81 million which in my opinion for him is a great price he has real passion for this club and will play to his best plus if €80 million for James Rodriguez is good then €81 million for Suarez is just too good to be true.



In summary Barcelona have had a great summer and ultimately should do good with these signings. In my opinion, this window for Barcelona is a success and some great buys have happened and who knows - maybe another buy could happen in the coming days. Anyway comment your opinion below.
