Derrick Lewis continued his ascent up the UFC heavyweight division with a second round rampage to knock out Travis Browne at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Canada. The red-hot Halifax crowd also saw shades of the old Johny Hendricks, as he effectively dispatched Hector Lombard with a unanimous decision victory in the co-main event of the evening.
Derrick Lewis def. Travis Browne (2nd round KO)
An early flurry of body strikes by Browne looked to have Lewis reeling, as the Black Beast held back and remained vigilant in the face of adversity, managing to fire a few kicks of his own before the round was out, but to no avail as Browne controlled the tempo to take the round with ease.
However, the second round would prove to be a completely different story, as Lewis, looking to extend his win streak to six on the bounce, showered his opponent with more heavy hits to fell him. Browne should heart to fend off the storm the first time round, clawing Lewis back to the clinch to slow things down.
Lewis had other ideas though, dropping Browne with a devestating right hook and proceeding to effectively end the fight with a classic ground and pound finish to claim his eightth knockout, tying for the third most in UFC Heavyweight history.

In the co-main event of the evening, Johny Hendricks claimed a first win since moving up to the middleweight division, with a unanimous decision win over Hector Lombard, who continues to suffer a torrid run in the UFC and without a win since 2014.
While the first round looked to have been even on paper, Hendricks continued to plug away and get the better of his opponent, as he matched Lombard blow for blow and defended eight takedown attempts, classily avoiding any trouble.
Making his debut with the promotion, Gavin Tucker impressed with a masterclass display against Sam Sicilia to reach a perfect 10-0 professional record. The Canadian prospect controlled the fight for the entirity of the three rounds, and while his strikes never looked like causing his opponent to drop to the canvas, he displayed an efficient defensive side to shut out the threat of a knockout after a scare up against the cage to see out the fight with a high level of skill.
