Romania 1-1 Switzerland
Admir Mehmedi's bullet strike helped Switzerland to a draw as they cancelled out Bodgan Stancu's first half penalty at the Parc des Princes.
Romania broke ahead with a penalty converted by Stancu after Lichtsteiner was penalised for shirt tugging inside the area.
But as the Swiss grew into the game, the ball bounced towards Mehmedi from a corner where he smashed it into goal to put his nation on the brink of qualification.
Haris Seferović earmarked a promising start for the Swiss as he fired off target following an excellent pass by Džemaili. It was picked up after a stray header fell to him but on the swivel, the striker couldn't plant it home.
Seferović would hit the target with an attempt soon after, although Ciprian Tătăruşanu was there to stop him. Some intricate play again saw a pass through the middle, this time by Shaqiri, find the forward racing up against two defenders. He managed to get the shot off but it was straight at the Romania keeper.
But Romania, growing into the game, found their opening when the Swiss defenders were unable to deal with Chipciu. Surrounded in opposing numbers, Lichtsteiner gave away a penalty for a tug on the shirt which took him off balance.
Bogdan Stancu needed no second invitation to give Romania the lead. With the keeper going the other way, he slotted it to the bottom left corner to put his side in front, somewhat against the run of play.

Fabian Schär dipping half-volley came close to levelling things up very soon after the goal. A ball into the box was headed out towards his direction, where he chested it down and let fly from long range, dipping in and getting tipped out for a corner by the keeper.
Cristian Săpunaru was then inches away from tieing it all up after a half-hour of play. A free kick from the middle left of the pitch was touched down incredibly well, where he turned and had a go just a couple of yards out, but it went off the outside of the post.
In the final noteworthy moment of the half, Blerim Džemaili headed wide after captain Lichtsteiner scooped back a cross into the area. Switzerland did trail on the scoreboard, but they were certainly intent on changing that.
Their momentum was only benefitted when Shaqiri's shot was blocked before Džemaili let up on a big shooting chance to scuff his lines as Romania cleared easily. That all could have turned south though when Djourou almost scored an own goal. Torje's ball was dangerous and he tried to deal with it by sliding in, just fizzing past the frame.
A thunderous strike from Admir Mehmedi would finally give the Swiss what they were looking for. Ricardo Rodriguez's corner from the left swung out where it was headed in the direction Mehmedi from around 15 yards out. With the ball bouncing he let fly and it rocketed into the far corner to level things up.
Claudiu Keșerü could easily have given Romania the lead once more when he had a free header from a few yards out, but it flew wide. That would be a rare Romania chance in what became a flurry of Swiss attacks as they tried to win the game.
Embolo miskicked after breaking through well on a previous attack as his side piled on the pressure. Shaqiri's free kick created a chance for Džemaili while Romania were looking for the full time whistle. After a very long half for them, they finally heard it, as the sides shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw.
